Frequently asked questions

The cost of a wedding at Albert Street Uniting Church is $2000. This includes all of the details mentioned above in the wedding package.
We hold weddings every two hours with a service taking about 35 minutes. When considering your preferred time please consult your photographer for the amount of time they require before your reception. Please note we do not hold weddings on Sundays or Thursdays.
We prefer that our ministers conduct the service, however we will allow other ministers to take part, or in some instances, to conduct the service. If you wish to have your own minister conduct the service, your minister needs to contact our Superintendent Minister to discuss this. Please note there is no reduction in fee if you choose to use your own minister.
The Prepare/Enrich Course is a relationships course which couples undertake as part of their preparation for married life ahead. The results are discussed with your minister as part of you and your partner’s preparation.
Albert Street Uniting Church is a heritage listed church. The pipe organ, century old stained glass and unique architecture all combine to create a welcoming atmosphere. Should you wish to view the church it is generally open Sundays from 8.30am to 10am for our weekly service at 9am. Please note the minister is not available after the Sunday services to discuss your wedding, rather leave this to the Wedding Information Session where they can give you their full attention. The seating capacity of the church is 200 people downstairs and 500 people upstairs.
If you choose to go ahead and book the Albert Street Uniting Church, we require a deposit of $100 to confirm the date and time. The remaining balance will be invoiced to you approximately 1 month before your wedding.

About three to six months prior to the wedding we conduct our interviews. This session is conducted in a group format at the church and a number of details are discussed, including:

  • the selection of wedding music is played by our organist for you to choose that evening
  • the ministers discuss how the services are conducted and answer any questions you may have
  • legal paperwork, such as the Notice of Intended Marriage form, is filled in.

Attendance at one of our Wedding Information Sessions is compulsory to ensure arrangements for your day can be discussed and the legal paperwork attended to.

The Notice of Intended Marriage form MUST be completed one calendar month prior to the wedding for the wedding to be able to go ahead. The officiating minister must also see your birth certificate and photo identification or passport prior to the wedding day.
Please note that parking around Albert Street Uniting Church is very limited. We encourage people to advise their guests to allow time to find parking. King George Square Car Park is the closest to us.
Lastly the minister will meet with you both either the week before the wedding or the day before for an hour to go over all the arrangements and to ensure the paperwork is in order etc.
As Albert Street Uniting is a heritage church we do not permit animals other than official assistance animals within the church interior.

We do not conduct same gender marriages. We recommend contacting St. Andrew’s Uniting (cnr Creek Street and Ann Street) or Merthyr Road Uniting (New Farm) for this service.

We welcome couples from any denomination and can be contacted on 07 3071 3060 for any further enquiries.
