Our worship service today departs from the lectionary to delight us with a special insight into the spirituality of someone who is often thought of as one of the greatest musical composers of all time, Johan Sebastian Bach. Bach was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period. He lived from 1685- 1750 – and yet his musical influence has been enormous. Bach was a devout Christian – and a lot of the music he composed was inspired by his faith. He was also a renowned organist – and so our service today will feature a sermon by Dr Janice McRandal, Director of the Cooperative, in conversation with Greg Hartay-Szabo – our amazing organist.
This morning we are being challenged with the question – How can the music of Johan Sebastian Bach enliven our prayer?
