Today is the first Sunday in our new preaching series – Songs of Wonder. Throughout this series we will be departing from the lectionary readings to focus on our congregational behaviours – but we will be doing this by looking at some of the beloved psalms that have helped to shape and form our worshipping community. Over the last couple of months you have shared with us your favourite psalms – and we have used these ‘songs of wonder’ to help curate this preaching series..
For today’s service we will be celebrating the congregational behaviour of Radical Hospitality and we will do so through our reading of one of the most famous psalms of all – Psalm 23.
In the 23rd Psalm we read of God’s welcome and comfort and guidance. This radical hospitality that God offers each and everyone of us means that we will not want for anything.. we will lie down in green pastures, beside still waters, and the path before us will be safe and true… we are called to offer this same hospitality to others…
The hospitality of God’s kingdom is the gift we are entrusted to offer the world… let us begin today!!
